Bowen is a gentle soft tissue remedial therapy, working at a deep level with clients feeling a real sense of relaxation during and after treatment.

Gentle rolling movements are applied to specific areas of the body, including the fascia, muscles, ligaments and tendons, to encourage repair and restore balance.

Significant attention is paid to the fascia, a layer of connective tissue that covers the entire structure of your body and is responsible for posture.

Because Bowen is a subtle treatment, with no vigorous manipulations it is safe for everyone from babies to older people.

Bowen therapy is not the same as massage, but subtle and relaxing making it a unique therapy choice. The positive effects of treatment can often be felt immediately, and usually within 48 hours. Chronic cases may take longer.

Consultation and Treatment

Following a consultation with your practitioner, your treatment will begin with a session typically lasting up to 1 hour with 4 sessions often required one week apart. It is recommended during which time other physical therapies ( example massage, physiotherapy, chiropractic) should not be undertaken.

The practitioner will apply gentle pressure to specific areas, through light clothing.

During your treatment there are unique breaks taken after each move which allows the body the time and space to respond to the moves.

Bowen in Sports

A growing number of athletes and professional sportspeople, receive regular Bowen therapy to enhance their performance and reduce the incidence of injury. When injury does occur, especially soft tissue damage, Bowen therapy can bring rapid relief and a fast recovery, allowing a swift return to activities.

Anatomical understanding of the Bowen Technique

In simplistic terms, the body is made up of connective tissue, each part attached to and influencing another.

Your shoulder injury may be creating pain in your hip, and this could be due to a change in the connective tissue tensions throughout the body.

The pain you are experiencing is often related to lifestyle choices, vocation (for example having a desk job), sport or even emotional stress.

What My Clients Say

Rebecca

My Bowen treatments with Linda are amazing, at the time deeply relaxing, and in the days and weeks afterwards I feel rejuvenated and balanced in body and mind. She intuitively knows where her focus is needed and the effects of the treatments have lasting impact every time- my painful joints, brain fog and more recently whiplash have benefited  so much from treatment with Linda. I recommend her to everyone and wouldn't go anywhere else.
